Proof of Concept

from The Pause by Pursesnatchers

/

about

I watched Nicholas Ray's 'In a Lonely Place' in April, and wrote and recorded this song the next day. I had also seen Tarkovsky's 'Stalker' at the Metrograph in March, my last time in a movie theatre, and that was still rattling around my head.

lyrics

I was born when she kissed me
I died when she left me
I lived a week while she loved me

Check in the attic
There’s a box there somewhere
Check in the glovebox of my car

Proof of concept
Is all we really have to show the world

Truth in the bottle
Truth is overrated
Truth is I wonder where you are

Life is distraction
I should flip the record
We don’t go back the way we came

Proof of concept
Is all we really have to show the world
We should go west
The sun would bleach our bones
I swear it’s better being bored than being alone
